CFL suspends Riders Duke Williams for one game

The CFL has announced that Riders Duke Williams has been suspended for one game following last week’s incident prior the Riders and Argos game in Touchdown Atlantic.

Before the game, video evidence showed Williams throwing a helmet at Richardson.

Richardson is facing the maximum fine (half of a game cheque) for initiating the confrontation.

In a statement, CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie said  “Such pre-game hostilities are unacceptable and the use of a helmet as a weapon is especially dangerous.” Ambrosie added, “Neither is to be tolerated.”

Toronto Argonaut defensive lineman Eli Mencer faces a one game suspension for derogatory language towards an official during the same game.
