Moose Jaw Council Approves New School

A proposed independent elementary school called Roots School received the OK from Moose Jaw city council Monday night for their siteThe discretionary use application for the kindergarten to grade 8 alternative school made it through council last night.
The school is located on the former Prairie Winds Church.
“For now, 20 students it would be,” said the school’s owner Amy Cojocar. “We want to follow a model where there’s at least one teacher per ten students so that they’re intimately known and we can really help them thrive.”
The school’s Instagram account said they will be “meeting SK Curriculum through hands-on projects and nature-based experiences.”
“We want to start small so we can still be successful and not just jump in over our heads,” Cojocar said.
