Two dead, one left with serious injuries in collision near Balgonie

A two-vehicle collision on Highway #1 near Balgonie has left two people dead and another person in the hospital with serious injuries.

White Butte RCMP responded to a collision on Monday after a car and a van collided in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the car, an 18-year-old man from White City, and the passenger of the van, a 64-year-old woman from Nanaimo, BC, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and RCMP said they do not have an update on his condition.

Highway #1 was closed while RCMP investigated the collision. However, it has since been reopened.

White Butte RCMP continues to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision deconstructionist.

*Editors Note* RCMP had previously reported that the 64-year-old woman was a passenger in the car instead of the van.
