Harvest progresses in western Sask but still weeks away in parts of eastern areas

Harvest is advancing across western parts of the Saskatchewan grainbelt.

The provincial crops extension specialist in Kindersley, Jesse Bond, says yields will be quite variable because of spotty rainfall this year.

He says insects are a problem again this summer, particularly grasshoppers.

Harvest may be nearing full swing in western areas but officials in eastern Saskatchewan say harvest for many farmers is still weeks away.
