Rams open up home schedule against Dinos

The University of Regina Rams will be looking to start the season off on the right foot on home turf.

The Rams will host the University of Calgary Dinos tonight at Mosaic Stadium in the team’s home opener.

Last week, the green and gold picked up a road 33-23 win in Winnipeg against the University of Manitoba Bisons.

Anthony Bennett was named the Canada West defensive player of the week for collecting three sacks in the win.

Ryder Varga received the special teams player of the week award after he a blocked punt that led to a touchdown for Regina, as the Rams made a third quarter comeback against the Bisons.

The Dinos are coming into the Queen City with a loss in the opening week of the season after getting hammered by the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

Varga says despite the Dinos lopsided loss to the Huskies last week, the Rams won’t be taking Calgary lightly.

“They’re probably one of the best coached teams un U Sports, their coaching staff is really and they’ve been coaching there years, and years.” He added “We know they’re going to be a well disciplined team, well coached and we know they have great special teams.”
