The Saskatchewan government is paying tribute to biotechology this week.
Bioech week is designed to draw attention to the economic impact from biotechnology.
Agriculture minister David Marit says biotechnology research has resulted in improved crop yields, new varieties and increased pest resistance.
Marit says the province supports agricultural innovation through a variety of farm research programs, including over 33 million dollars this fiscal year.
About one-third of Canada’s agriculture biotech sector is based in Saskatchewan.
