Ontario pair charged after wild ride near Moosomin

A wide ride that began with a vehicle theft in Ontario ended up with a car-jacked semi, a driver hurt with non-life-threatening injuries and a semi trailer on fire on the Trans-Canada Highway.

On September 29th, a theft of a pick up truck hauling another in Ontario ended up with two people car-jacking a semi at a rest stop near Moosomin and throwing the male driver out.

The semi-jacking happened at a weigh station near an RCMP officer’s vehicle and they pursued, driving west on Highway 1.
Officers set up a spike belt to disable the semi, but the occupants swerved away, and the trailer unit caught fire.
The semi came to a stop in the median where RCMP arrested the two people inside without incident.
31-year-old Kyle Duck of Dundalk Ontario and 20-year-old Brianna Wiebe from Ontario faces a number of charges and are appearing in Moosomin provincial court Tuesday. Duck was also arrested on warrants from Ontario as well.

The semi driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
