A man was tasered and taken to hospital on Sunday after police found him, harming himself with a knife.

Just before 8 pm yesterday, police were dispatched to 7th Avenue North and Nollet Avenue for a report of an injured man with a knife.

When police arrived, the man was holding the knife to his body and refused to drop the knife at the command of the police.

The officers on the scene feared that the man would continue to harm himself, so one officer deployed his taser so that police could take the man into custody.

The man was treated on scene by EMS and was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and taken to the hospital.

He is not facing any criminal charges.
