Sask Lotteries sponsors community grant program in Moose Jaw, applications being accepted

The City of Moose Jaw has announced that it’s accepting applications for the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program as well as Community Projects-Capital Grant Program.

The Community Grant Program will provide funds to nonprofit community organizations that are operated by
volunteers.

“The Community Grant Program is generously sponsored by Saskatchewan Lotteries and through that, we provide the grant that helps sports, culture, and recreation groups in Moose Jaw to either promote a special event, run their regular programming, or if there’s a specific targeted approach to increase participation,” says Scott Osmachenko, Manager of Recreation Services in Moose Jaw.

It’s also hoped to create activities to encourage the participation of underrepresented populations in the city such as  Children and teenagers, especially at-risk youth, economically disadvantaged, inactive seniors, persons with a disability, single-parent families, and women.

Osmachenko says that there’s a wide range of different programming.

“They range from anything from wonderful programming at our local seniors’ clubs, Special Olympics has some funding, we have our free summer playground program that’s happening, little league, the swim club, lawn bowling, pickleball, the list goes on.”

The deadline for submissions is November 30th, for the period of April 1st, 2023 March 31, 2024 .

The purpose of the Community Projects-Capital Grant Program is to enable community groups to undertake a cost-sharing capital development or renovation projects to City owned parks or facilities providing recreation, sport, arts, or cultural opportunities to the community.

The application deadline for the Community Projects-Capital Grant Program is January 31, 2023.
