The province has announced the death of an inmate at the Regina Correctional Centre this morning.
A 46-year-old man on remand was declared dead this morning. He’d had an altercation with another inmate and became unresponsive.
After attempting life-saving measures, EMS declared the man dead at about 8:50 a.m.
The RCMP and Saskatchewan coroner’s service are investigating and the ministry of corrections, policing and public safety will all be conducting an internal investigation.
The name of the deceased has not been released and police are working to identify the next of kin.
