Huskies maintain provincial bragging rights over Rams with 23-20 win

 

For the second time this season, the University of Regina Rams held a lead over their provincial rivals, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, but once again the Huskies were able to come from behind, as they remain undefeated after a 23-20 win over the Rams on Saturday afternoon at Griffiths Stadium.

The Rams led 5-3 after the first quarter before extending their lead to 12-3 when Christian Katende scored a one yard touchdown.

The U of S would regain the lead before the end of half with touchdowns from Kody Gutek and Ryker Frank.

Following a pair of Huskie field goals in the second half, Rams QB Noah Pelletier scored a one yard touchdown with just over a minute remaining in the game.

Pelletier had 147 yards passing with three interceptions. Riley Boersma led Rams receivers with seven catches and 73 yards.

It was big afternoon for Frank, the Regina product had 86 yards rushing along with 132 yards receiving.

With the loss, the Rams record drops down to 4-2, they remain in second place in the Canada West Football standings. The Huskies are 6-0.

Next action for the Rams is next Saturday when they head to Calgary to meet the Dinos.
