Sask farmers advised to check canola fields this fall

The southeast provincial crops extension specialist is advising farmers to check their canola fields this fall for crop diseases.

Sherri Roberts, based in Weyburn, has been checking fields for clubroot and other diseases.

She says some fields are showing signs of disease.

Roberts suggests farmers should consider extending crop rotations and seeding disease-resistant varieties.

She says there should be a minimum three year rotation in seeding the same grain on the same field to avoid disease concentrations.
