Homicide near Kamsack

Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Kamsack RCMP received a report of the discharge of a firearm at a residence on The Key First Nation.

Officers immediately responded and located an injured man in the residence. He was pronounced deceased by EMS at the scene.

He was a 51-year-old man from The Key First Nation. His family has been notified and has been offered Victim Services.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Kamsack RCMP, Yorkton RCMP Forensic Identification Services, RCMP Historical Crimes Unit, and the Regina Provincial RCMP General Investigation Section all assisted with the initial investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has taken over the death investigation in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

The incident has now been confirmed to be a homicide.

Investigators are looking to speak to anyone with information about the man’s death or anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the rural area southeast of the “Four Corners” intersection on The Key First Nation early Sunday morning.
