Lieutenant Governor presented with first poppy

The 2022 Royal Canadia Legion National Poppy Campaign officially kicked off when Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty was presented with the first poppy.

The poppy was presented by the newly elected President of The Royal Canadian Legion, Saskatchewan Command, Carol Pederson.

“We will wear these poppies in remembrance of our own family members who have served and to recognize all of the men and women who have served in our military, times of conflict, dangerous peacekeeping missions, and domestic deployments,” says Mirasty.

Poppies are now available to the general public at Legion Branches, participating merchants, and public venues across the province.

Poppies are distributed at no charge but the Legion gratefully accepts donations to the Poppy Fund. The funds raised through the Poppy Campaign support programs for veterans and their families.
