Body found in Wascana Lake not a result of crime

The Regina Police Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, has confirmed the identity of a man who’s body was found in the water at Wascana Lake on October 20th.

Police have also determined the investigation is not a criminal case.

On October 20, just before 3:30 p.m., police were called to Wascana Lake for the discovery of a body in the water near Willow Island. Regina Fire and Protective Services assisted in recovering the body.

Police and the Coroner attended to the scene, and at that time, the identity of the deceased was unknown to authorities.

Members of the Regina Police Service have since identified the man.

He was a Regina resident and his next of kin have been notified.

Through investigation, police have also determined that the death was not criminal.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death will continue and it will be led by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and assisted by police.
