Sask economy shows more growth

 

The province says new statsCan numbers show Saskatchewan’s merchandise exports rose 45 percent in September compared to the same month last year.

Its the highest increase among the provinces.

Trade and Export Development minister Jeremy Harrison says Saskatchewan has what the world needs, from food, to fuel, to fertilizer.

Saskatchewan’s merchandise exports were 4.5 billion dollars in September.

In the first 9 months of 2022, Saskatchewan’s merchandise exports grew by almost 45 percent compared to the same period in 2021 to 38 billion dollars.

Metal ores, non-metallic minerals and industrial machinery lead the year over year export growth, with minerals up 100 percent and industrial machinery jumping 57 percent.

In August, the value of wholesale trade in Saskatchewan jumped 74 percent compared to August of last year while manufacturing sales rose 29 percent during the same period.
