YWCA receives $1 million donation from Conexus

The Conexus Credit Union contributed $1 million to the new YWCA Regina Centre for Women and Families Conexus Community Outreach Centre.

Celina Philpot, CEO of Conexus Credit Union, said they are pleased to be a part of this project to help women and families in our province realize their full potential.

“Investing in life-impacting initiatives that contribute to the community for generations to come tells a story of support, care for our community and innovation; a direct reflection of our purpose, values and brand as an organization.”

The one million dollars will help create and operate the Conexus Community Outreach Centre, which aims to assist women and families escaping domestic violence by providing essential education on violence prevention, health services, legal advice, and integrated crisis services.

YWCA CEO Melissa Coomber-Bendtsen said the donation continued as the long-standing relationship between YWCA Regina and Conexus spans 25 years.

“We’ve been so fortunate to have a lasting and trusted partnership with Conexus, and in the earliest days of the consultation and planning for the new Centre for Women and Families, they were there, on board, and ready to be involved.”

“Like us, Conexus is deeply invested in supporting individuals in meeting their full potential, and their contribution is integral in making that happen,” she added.

YWCA Regina is working to raise another $7 million in funding from the community.
