NFU selects new President at recent annual meeting

 

A farmer from Ontario is the new president of the National Farmers Union.

NFU members from across the country met at the NFU’s first hybrid convention in Saskatoon in late November.

Jenn Pfennig of New Hamburg Ontario was selected at the annual meeting.

Pfennig is a family owner and the director of human resources, marketing and operations at Pfennig’s Organic
Farm.

She enjoys working alongside local and migrant workers to produce food for health living and a strong community.

She has served on the Foodshare Toronto board of directors and is a past president of the Organic Council of Ontario.

The first vice president, policy, is Saskatchewan farmer Stewart Wells of Swift Current.

Other members of leadership include Al Birchard of
Verwood, Saskatchewan, second vice president of operations and Jordan River of Borden, Saskatchewan.
