The long search for the new offensive coordinator with the Saskatchewan Roughriders is over.
On Monday night, the Roughriders announced that Kelly Jeffrey will be assuming the role of offensive coordinator for the 2023 season.
Jeffrey joined the Saskatchewan coaching staff in 2022 as the team’s running backs coach.
Prior to arriving in Saskatchewan, Jeffrey was with the Edmonton Elks in 2020 and served as the special teams coordinator for the Toronto Argonauts in 2016.
He also spent ten seasons as the head coach for Mount Allison (2008-15), before that he spent two years as the team’s offensive coordinator, special teams coordinator and quarterbacks coach (2006-07).
During his time with Mounties, Jeffrey was named AUS Coach of the Year three times (2010,2013 2014) and was named CIS (now U Sports) Coach of the Year in 2014.
South of the border, the Riders new offensive coordinator spent time with Mayville State University in North Dakota for four years (2002-05), coached quarterbacks at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and University of San Diego (1998-2000), running backs at Northern State University o(1996-97) and wide receivers at Dickinson State University (1994-95).
Jeffrey takes over from Jason Maas, who was with the Roughriders for the last two seasons.
