Regina Police were busy on Saturday after making two arrests involving stolen vehicles.
At roughly 3:30 Saturday morning, The police canine unit located a vehicle that was reported stolen the day before.
The vehicle was stopped with a spike belt, and then the suspect ran away on foot.
The suspect was later found by a member of the Canine unit and his service dog.
36-year-old Joseph Garth Stonechild, of Regina, is being charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer.
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
- Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited.
- Fail to comply with Condition of a Release Order.
At the same time Saturday morning, police also responded to a report of a man unconscious and unresponsive in a vehicle on Mackenzie Crescent.
After police were given the license plate number it was determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen an hour prior.
Police arrived and arrested 37-year-old Aaron Moosewaypayo, of Regina.
He is being charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
- Operating while impaired.
- Operating with over 80 mgs of alcohol.
Stonechild will appear in Regina Provincial Court on February 2 and Moosewaypayo will appear in Regina Provincial Court on January 4.
