Bundle up this week as temperatures plummet

Bundle up if you’re going outside this week because it’s going to be a bitterly cold experience.
Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada , talked about some of the highlights:
“Cold is the weather for the next few days, certainly into the weekend,” said Lang. “There’s some … patches of light snow floating around here and there and will be floating around for the next few days. We do expect the winds to come up a little bit Wednesday and Thursday, especially over that southeast corner, so we may see a little bit of blowing snow out there as well.”
Lang said that with the temperatures as low as they are, some extreme cold warnings are likely this week.
Fortunately for people who like to go outside without freezing their faces off in moments, the bitterly cold weather will not last forever. Lang said this weekend will see some moderation in temperatures.
“When I talk about moderation, I’m talking about coming out of the really deep cold air and more towards seasonal values,” Lang said. “We may  even get above seasonal values but we’re not looking for a meltdown or anything like that with balmy temperatures, it’s more that moderation.”
As of the time of Environment and Climate Change Canada’s 11 a.m. Monday forecast, Regina’s highs are set to be -26 on Friday, -17 on Christmas Eve and -14 on Christmas Day.
Extreme cold warnings were issued for the southwestern corner of the province Monday morning.
As of mid to late afternoon Monday, much of the southern quarter of the province was also in the extreme cold warning.
“A period of extreme cold values will continue through the week during the overnight and early morning periods,” the warning read.
