Early Sunday morning, police investigated suspicious activity in the Glen Elm neighbourhood, and wound up seeing a suspect place a loaded firearm into a recycling bin.
Police were in the neighbourhood at 4:55 Sunday morning looking for a vehicle that evaded police.
They followed a cab to the area of College Avenue and MacDonald Street, where police say people from the cab place what they discovered was the firearm in the bin.
A canine track led to an address on College Avenue where a man was found and taken into custody without incident.
Thomas James Husli-Haygarth, 28 from Regina, faces several criminal charges after his home was searched by police.
He made his first court appearance today.
