When the CFL released its schedule for the up coming season last week, you probably noticed a “neutral site” game between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the defending Grey Cup Champions from Toronto.
Its not surprising, the CFL announced this morning the two teams will be squaring off on the east coast for the latest edition of “Touchdown Atlantic”.
“Touchdown Atlantic brings our fans together in a fun and exciting way,” said Randy Ambrosie, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League (CFL).
“It’s our way of showing our friends in Atlantic Canada that they’re an important part of the CFL family – and inviting our fans from across the country to ‘come for the game and stay for a vacation.’”
Last year the game was played at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Tickets for the game sold out in 24 hours.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Halifax after an incredible visit for Touchdown Atlantic in 2022″ Riders CEO Craig Reynolds said in a statement through the CFL. “The people of Nova Scotia welcomed us with open arms and it was so special to see how many of our fans traveled thousands of miles to join us. I know I speak for all Rider Nation when I say we can’t wait to go back and share that amazing East Coast experience again in 2023!”
This year the game will be played at Husky’s Stadium at St. Mary’s University in Halifax on Saturday July 29th. Kick off is at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, and of course, you will hear all of the action from the east coast right here on 620CKRM.
