Sunwing Cancels Service from Regina and Saskatoon

Its usually a gateway to a hot holiday somewhere, but right now Sunwing Airlines is in deep trouble.

It announced it was discontinuing service to Regina and Saskatoon until at least February.  Anyone booked on flights in the coming weeks will be given an automatic refund.  The airline says it could take up to 30 days.

The move comes as Sunwing is struggling to bring home people from various destinations like Mexico, after a slew of flight cancellations and delays caused mostly by weather, and partly by poor management.

Sunwing still working to bring stranded passengers home from Mexico

This is yet another blow for Saskatchewan’s two major airports, which have seen a drop in the number of air carriers offering services.  Air Canada announced it was ending its service from Regina and Saskatoon to Calgary.  That makes it even more difficult for passengers from Saskatchewan to get to where they want to go.
