This past summer, the federal government awarded over a quarter of its funding for research infrastructure projects to the University of Saskatchewan.

Vice President Research, Baljit Singh notes that there are around 97 universities in the country, so that’s a big piece of the pie.

He says USask has an important role to play in Canadian research projects.

The funding was for VIDO, the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, SuperDarn, which is a series of radars that study the atmosphere to predict things like climate change, and Global Water Futures Observatories, which looks at water modelling to support the development of solutions for the impending water crisis.
