The Saskatoon Police Services has been investigating numerous reports of the so called “Grand Parent Scam”.
That’s when a scammer poses as a friend of a relative, and that relative is in trouble and in need of money.
Police say more than 100-thousand dollars has been taken from people in recent weeks through this scam.
This morning, police announced they had arrested and charged a 25 year old man. His name has not been released yet, but he is facing seven counts of fraud over $5,000 .
Police are again reminding people to cautious about these types of contact, especially with elderly people who are more vulnerable.
If you think you or someone you know has been a victim of the “Grand Parent Scam”, you are asked to contact the Saskatoon Police Service.
