McMorris establishes new medal record at Winter X Games

It was a record breaking day for Regina’s Mark McMorris on Sunday at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.

McMorris claimed his 22nd medal at the games, thanks to a gold medal in the slopestyle. The Regina product overtook Norway’s Marcus Kleveland with back-to-back 1620s on the last two jumps.

The victory marked the seventh gold medal in the slopestyle for McMorris. During his time at the X-Games, the 29-year old has won 11 gold medals.

McMorris won slopestyle bronze medals at each of the last three Olympics.
