Flasch and Knapp rinks to meet in “A” Final of the Tankard

 

The Men’s Tankard will wrap up on Sunday afternoon. Today the first spot of the playoffs will be determined as the Colton Flasch rink will meet the Kelly Knapp’s rink in the “A” Final at 3:00.

The winner will advance to the page playoff game on Saturday night at 7:30.

Catlin Schneider, third for the Flasch rink says a victory in the “A” Final is a huge advantage for the Tankard.

He said with the amount of games in the short amount of time at tournaments like the Tankard, a bye into the playoffs along with an extended break is a welcome advantage for any squad.

“If you get deep in the “C”, you could play seven straight draws, no breaks, so you’re coming off getting some quick food and you’re right back out there. ”

To begin the Tankard, both Flasch and Knapp had first-round byes on the A side. Flasch’s rink opened up with a 9-4 victory against the rink led by Jason Jacobson and then defeated Kody Hartung’s team 8-2. Knapp earned a pair of 9-7 victories against the teams skipped by Daymond Bernath and Steven Laycock .

Friday marked the third day of action at the Tankard and Schnieder noted the ice is in good condition for the most part.

“It was super quick to start.” The third for the Flasch said at times the ice has been weight sensitive but the ice has not been a major issue for the teams this week.

Tonight the “B” semi-finals will be apart of the evening draw, with the winners facing in the “B” final tomorrow.

The  3 vs 4 playoff games take place at 7:30 on Saturday night.

The semi-final is 10:00 on Sunday before the finals at 3:00 at Affinity Place.
