The new parkade at Regina’s General Hospital is moving forward.
The provincial government has issued a Request for Qualifications, in other words, its looking for a company to handle the design, construction and operation of the new parkade.
From the list of companies that apply, the provincial government will whittle the list down to a few who will be invited to actually make a bid on the project.
The parkade, or the need for more parking has been a concern among staff, and people who use the hospital for years. Staff and patients are sometimes forced to find parking on the streets around the hospital, which is taking parking from homes.
The new structure will be built on the northwest corner of the existing visitor parking lot, and add as many as 800 parking stalls.
