Sask Municipal Awards announced for this past year

The 15th annual Municipal Awards have been announced to highlight the transformation in Municipalities in Saskatchewan.

First place goes to the village of Riverhurst, for restoring a local wetland to provide environmental and economic benefits to the community.

Second Place goes to the town of Churchbridge for developing a community campground.

Another second place award goes to the town of Birch Hills for transforming a vacant building into a multi-use facility for the library, provide event space and bring together various user groups.

Third place goes to the RM of Willowbunch and the town of Willow Bunch for a water and sewer project to support expansion of the local regional park.

The regional co-operation award goes to five RM’s and four towns, RM’s of Poplar Valley, Hart Butte, Willow Bunch, Bengough, and Happy Valley and the towns of Rockglen, Willow Bunch, Bengough and Coronach.

The award is for creating an action team to diversify the local economy and reduce the impact of the transition away from coal fired power.
