DE Anthony Bennett ready to showcase his talents at the CFL Combine

 

The Canadian Football League (CFL) Draft will take place on May 2. This week, the players who will be selected on that date will have a chance to display their skills in front of the scouts across the league at the CFL Combine presented by New Era in Edmonton.

Commonwealth Stadium’s Field House will host the five-day event that kicks off on Wednesday.

There will be a four members of the University of Regina Rams that will be taking part in the combine, including defensive end Anthony Bennett.

On Monday, Bennett was a guest on the SportsCage with Michael Ball ahead of the beginning of the combine.

In the winter edition of the CFL Scouting Bureau, the Rams defensive end was ranked 13th overall.

When asked what features would make me him the right selection for a team at the upcoming draft, accountability was Bennett’s response.

“I can be anything you need, I can usually be there on time and ready to go.”

Mock drafts across the country have tabbed Bennett as an early second round selection, the 2022 U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian isn’t worried about the location of his next team, he’s more concerned about the chance that awaits him.

“Anywhere that gives me an opportunity,” the Rams defensive end replied when asked where he wants to be selected in the CFL Draft. He added, “what I mean by that, I want them to welcome me like a family.”

During his second season with the University of Regina in 2022, Bennett established a new school  record with eight sacks during the regular season, he would add another one in the playoffs. He also tied a school record for tackles for losses with 10.5.

Along with his 2022 U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian award, the Weston, Florida product was named a 2022 Canada West First All-Star.

Besides Bennett, other players from the Rams that will be taking part in the combine are defensive back Jaxon Ford, defensive lineman Tanner Schmekel and linebacker Josh White.
