“An Evening in Greece” raises $250,000 for the Hospitals of Regina Foundation

The Hospitals of Regina Foundation (HRF) received $250,000 from “An Evening in Greece.”

At the event, $125,000 was raised by the community, which was matched by Knight Cares and the Knight family.

Spiro Bonis, the chairperson of the Evening in Greece committee, said this year’s donation makes it over $1 million they have now donated to the HRF over the years.

“Our grand total over the 29 years is just over $2.7 million, with $1.1 million going to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation.”

The donation also set a record for the most the event has been able to raise, and Bonis said that is thanks to Knight Cares.

“This is the first time ever someone has matched our donation, so it was great, and we appreciate it.”

Bonis said they chose the HRF due to its role in the community.

“We all are going to need a hospital at one point in our lives, and it’s a critical part of our community,” he said. “Regina’s greek community has been proud to support back to the community because it has been good to us. We wanted to give back, and what better way to give back than to our hospitals.”

Dino Sophocleous, President and CEO of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, said this year’s funds would go towards pediatrics programs in Regina.
