Farm reaction positive to Sask 2023 budget

There’s positive farm reaction to the provincial budget.

Western Canadian Wheat Growers director Kaitlyn Kitzan of Theodore says the almost 20 percent increase in the funding for the agriculture ministry is welcome.

She adds improvements to farm support programs are welcome.

The agristability compensation rate will increase from 70 to 80 percent for this year, to better support farmers in times of need.

SARM president Ray Orb describes this week’s provincial budget as good news for rural Saskatchewan.

Orb welcomes enhanced funding for rural health care, policing, and revenue sharing.

APAS vice president Bill Prybylski says increased funding for farm water projects is welcome new.

The cap on the Farm and Ranch infrastructure program rises to 75 thousand dollars, up from 50 thousand dollars to help farmers still dealing with the droughts of previous years.
