Traffic stop results in seizure of illicit drugs near Melville: Sask. RCMP

One man has been charged after Melville RCMP found drugs and items associated with drug trafficking.

On March 28, Melville RCMP located a vehicle parked on Highway 10 with the driver unconscious in the driver’s seat.

Police say there was evidence of drug use and arrested the driver for impaired vehicle operation.

After the arrest, a search of the driver resulted in officers locating and seizing approximately 1 gram of fentanyl.

Police then obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. They seized approximately 0.5 ounces of fentanyl, one ounce of methamphetamine, and evidence consistent with drug trafficking activity, including scales, baggies, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The 30-year-old man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking for both fentanyl and methamphetamine.

He is scheduled to appear in Melville Provincial Court on April 17.
