REAL District asks for patience with parking for Pats playoff games

For the first time since 2018, the Regina Pats are set to host a home playoff game.

The Pats are set to host the Saskatoon Blades in Games 2 and 3 of their first-round playoff series Tuesday and Wednesday.

Amy Moats, director of guest experience at REAL, said that they are asking fans to be patient when arriving and leaving the REAL District.

“We are encouraging our patrons to consider car-pooling and arriving earlier than their typical arrival time,” she said. “When we are at our capacity and our parking lots. We do work with the city on changing and extending the timing of our lights, but we do ask for patience.”

“It does take a bit of time to move the volume of vehicles off of our site. Pack a snack, have a good chat with whoever you are coming with to the game, and just acknowledge that it may take a couple of extra minutes to get off-site when we are at a sellout capacity.”

Following a physical confrontation between a driver and two parking attendants at the SaskTel Centre after Game 2 of the series in Saskatoon, Moats also asks fans to respect their parking attendance.

“Be kind to our parking attendants, they are out there for your safety, and there is a method to the way in which they are providing directives so everybody gets off of our sight smoothly and safety back home.”

She said what happened in Saskatoon was unfortunate but not a surprise.

“Unfortunately, we are seeing an increasing trend in aggression towards parking attendants,” she said. “Let’s be mindful that within the service industry, these parking attendants are doing their job and trying to make sure that the parking lot remains safe, not only for vehicle movement but for pedestrians as well.”
