Former Maple Creek teacher and youth coach charged with historic sexual assault

Historic sexual assault and sexual interference charges were laid against a former teacher in Maple Creek.

Wednesday, 64-year-old Dexter Bacsu made his first appearance on the charges in Swift Current provincial court.

As the investigation continues, Maple Creek RCMP believe there may be more victims.

RCMP release that Bacsu was a long-time teacher in Maple Creek schools and continued to work as a substitute teacher until recently.

Chinook School Division has advised he is no longer an employee.

Bacsu has volunteered in local youth sports and music programming, including as a coach and trip chaperone.
