Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck has been removed from the legislative assembly after saying the trade and export minister was lying over comments he made about her party.

Jeremy Harrison had accused the NDP of not supporting pipelines and for inviting federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh to fundraisers, which Beck had called lies.

Beck says she chose not to apologize for her comments because the minister is misrepresenting the party’s position on pipelines and the carbon tax.

She says her party is supportive of pipelines and is opposed to the carbon tax.

Beck says she was also disappointed the minister did not answer questions about what the government is doing to support Saskatchewan steelworkers who are facing layoffs in Regina.

Members from the United Steelworkers union, who were in attendance in the legislature, say the minister’s response was disrespectful and hoped he would address their concerns.
