Regina’s Airport Preparing for WestJet Labour Dispute

WestJet is a key operator of Regina’s International Airport, but all that could come to stop on Thursday night.

With the airline issuing lockout notice Monday night after the pilot’s issued strike notice, there seems to be little hope of stopping this labour dispute.

This means most, if not all of WestJet’s flights will be grounded.

Jason Reeves at YQR says they are not involved in the negotiations, so they can only prepare for a potential strike and lock out at WestJet.

“The part that we can prepare for is bringing in more staff, for Friday morning which appears to be the time this will get going.  So we are going to be sharing as much as we know, whenever we can on our social media platforms to try and keep customers informed.”

The two sides in this labour dispute have been saying they will work until the deadline to try and get a new deal done.
