The Battlefords North Stars season ended on a disappointing note on Sunday as they were defeated by the Brooks Bandits 4-0 in the Centennial Cup Final in Portage La Prairie.
After 20 minutes the two team were scoreless as the Brooks Bandits before the Bandits busted through with four goals in the second frame, including three in a 1:37 span.
Saskatoon’s Hudson Malinowski had two goals to lead the scoring charge for Brooks.
Josh Kotai made 37 saves in the loss for Battlefords.
This is the third straight national championship for the Bandits. They were victorious in 2022 and 2019. There were no national championships in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.
