2007-born defenceman Samuel LaPlante has signed a Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Regina Pats.

The 16-year old was a Pats seventh-round selection in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft.

He spent last season with the  IHA U17 Prep where he collected 21 points (5G-16A) in 30 games.

The Okotoks, Alberta product is listed at 6’1 and is a right-handed defenceman.

In the team’s release, Head Coach and General Manager John Paddock said “He (LaPlante) looks like he can be a regular defenceman in the WHL.”
