Roughriders wrap up preseason in Winnipeg against the Blue Bombers

One final audition for the Saskatchewan Roughriders tonight as they conclude the preseason against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers at IG Field.

Saskatchewan will have a veteran presence to begin the game, Trevor Harris will take his first snaps as the starting quarterback for the Roughriders. Harris missed last week’s game against the BC Lions to attend the birth of his third child.

A lot of eyes will be on the three remaining quarterbacks for Saskatchewan tonight. Mason Fine, Jake Dolegala and Shea Patterson will get their last chance to show the Roughriders coaching staff why they should be the team’s backup QB.

With less than a week until the final roster cutdown, the offensive line still have questions to be answered. Left tackle Jerald Hawkins is away from the team this week, leaving Philip Blake to start at left tackle. Evan Johnson and Logan Ferland will start at the guard positions and Eric Lofton begins the game at right tackle.

On the defensive side of the ball, Micah Johnson and Derrick Moncrief will be out tonight.

Anthony Lanier II will move over to the defensive end spot, allowing both Demarcus Christmas and Miles Brown to start inside the two interior spots.

With Moncrief not in the lineup, C.J. Reavis fills the void at strongside linebacker.

Jayden Dalke is listed as the starter at safety for tonight’s game.

An0ther notable name not playing for the Roughriders tonight is returner Mario Alford. This will allow the coaching staff to take a look at the other options the team could use at the returner spot.

Punter Kaare Vedvik is out for tonight’s game with a quad injury, allowing Adam Korsak to handle the punting duties against Winnipeg.

The Roughriders will return to Saskatchewan following the game, next week the team will make their final moves to get down to the 46-man roster ahead of the green and white’s opening contest in Edmonton against the Elks on Sunday, June 11.
