Aerial Support Unit leads to dangerous driving arrests and numerous drug charges

The Regina Police Service’s Aerial Support Unit helped police arrest and charge two people with various drug trafficking charges.

On June 4 at 1:45 a.m., police located a vehicle on 4th Avenue and Elphinstone Street driving without tail lights illuminated. Police would attempt a traffic stop, but the vehicle would increase speed, evading police.

The Aerial Support Unit conducted aerial surveillance on the vehicle and observed the vehicle parking on the 1200 block of Wallace Street, where two people exited and were later arrested.

A search yielded substances believed to be fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine, as well as a conducted energy weapon.

A 41-year-old Regina man is facing eight charges, including dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, and three counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

A 32-year-old Regina woman is facing four charges, including three counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both are set to make their first appearance in Provincial Court on July 20.
