Lightning Hits Oil Battery Near Stoughton

There were stormy skies near Stoughton Monday afternoon, with enough power to bring down several lightning strikes, including one that did a lot of damage.

Around 1:30pm Monday an oil battery north-east of Stoughton was hit, setting it on fire immediately. Nearby tanks of natural gas and oil burned as well.

Reports from area suggest the fire department decided to let it burn itself out, as it was contained the property.

No one was injured, but damage is extensive.

Stoughton is about 60 kilometres east of Weyburn.
