Regina’s Ryan Getzlaf has found himself a new role with the Anaheim Ducks.
On Tuesday, the Ducks announced they hired their former captain as Player Development Coordinator.
In his job with the Ducks, Getzlaf will assist Director of Player Development Jim Johnson prepare and educate Anaheim’s prospects for a career in professional hockey.
Getzlaf was the longest serving captain in the team’s history and helped the Ducks to a Stanley Cup title in 2007.
During his 1,157 games with the team, Getzlaf collected a franchise best 1,019 points, is the only Ducks player to surpass 1,000 points.
He is also one of 13 players in hockey history to win two Olympic gold medals and a Stanley Cup championship and one of 46 NHL players to record 1,000 points with a single franchise.
