Pair of armed robberies see man and youth facing several charges

A man and a youth are facing charges after a pair of armed robberies on Thursday.

On June 29, police were dispatched to the interaction of N McIntosh Street and Donnelly Crescent for a report of a weapons offence involving a firearm.

According to police, two suspects in a car approached the victim while he was riding his motorbike, struck the motorbike with the vehicle, and the motorbike stalled. The suspect driver pointed a firearm at the victim while the passenger attempted to steal the motorbike but failed to do so.

The occupants of the vehicle threatened the victim, then drove away again.

Shortly after the first call, emergency services responded to a report of a truck set on fire north of Regina.

According to police, the victim was driving his truck when a car that matched the description of the first offence made him stop his truck.

The driver of the suspect vehicle pointed a firearm at the victim, demanded his belongings, and threatened to kill the victim.

The suspects took the belongings, threw an ignited object into the truck sunroof, then drove away.

Police say the victim wasn’t injured in the incident.

The investigation, led by the Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit, located the vehicle, which led to the RCMP deploying a tire deflation device on the suspect vehicle.

Both a 26-year-old and a 16-year-old were arrested and taken into custody.

The 26-year-old from Fort Qu’Appelle is charged with two counts of robbery using a firearm, three counts of pointing a firearm, two counts of uttering threats, dangerous driving, arson, and failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

The 16-year-old is facing two counts of robbery using a firearm, two counts of uttering threats, arson, and failure to comply with conditions of a release order.

The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court and Provincial Youth Court Thursday afternoon.
