Pats blanked by Wheat Kings 1-0 in preseason opener

The Regina Pats opened up their preseason schedule with a 1-0 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Brandt Centre on Friday night.

Wheat Kings netminder Nicolas Jones picked up the shutout making 34 saves while Pats goalie Kelton Pyne had 28 saves in the loss for Regina.

Brandon’s Caleb Hadland scored the only goal of the night, a short-handed marker in the third period.

Regina was 0/3 on the power play while Brandon was 0 for 5.

The two teams will square off in Brandon on Saturday night.

Regina will meet the Saskatoon Blades in their final home game of their exhibition schedule on Wednesday, September 13.
