Chase for Canterra Seeds Cup begins

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) will drop the puck on another regular season on Friday night.

There are five games on the opening night schedule.

Melville Millionaires @ Estevan Bruins 7:00

Flin Flon Bombers @ Nipawin Hawks 7:00

Yorkton Terrier @ Weyburn Red Wings 7:00

Kindersley Klippers @ Battlefords North Stars 7:30

La Ronge Ice Wolves @ Melfort Mustangs 7:30

The Notre Dame Hounds and Humboldt Broncos will wait an extra night before the two teams meet in Humboldt on Saturday.

Battlefords claimed the 2023 Canterra Seeds Cup after they swept the Flin Flon Bombers in the championship finals.

A couple of familiar faces return to the SJHL as head coaches this season, Clayton Jardine rejoins the Kindersley Klippers while former Nipawin Hawks bench boss Doug Johnson is now the man in charge in Melville.

Emery Olauson is the new head coach for the Yorkton Terriers.

The SJHL Showcase will take place from Nov. 13-16 in Warman at the Legends Centre.

The regular season is set to wrap up on Saturday March 16.
