Blades trounced the Pats 6-1

It wasn’t the Regina Pats night on Saturday as the Saskatoon Blades defeated the Pats 6-1 at the Sasktel Centre.

Tanner Howe scored the lone goal for the Pats, 20 seconds into the third period with the Blades leading 6-0.

Ewan Huet started the game for the Pats and made allowed three goals on 23 shots in the first period. Kelton Pyne came in relief and allowed three goals on 28 shots.

Head Coach Brad Herauf said his team got off to a slow start.

“The biggest thing was that our details and focus of the game was exposed. We need to play detailed hockey and the first three goals we gave up were all because of brain farts and things we showed on video before the game that we didn’t pick up on. It was in the back of our net and it’s 3-0, and we’re chasing the game.”

The Pats return to action on Wednesday night, when they host the Calgary Hitmen at the Brandt Centre.
