19-year-old charged in 2022 fatal collision

A 19-year-old has been charged in connection to a fatal collision last year.

Almost a year ago, on November 2, 2022, at 1:18 a.m., police were dispatched to Ring Road, between Wascana Parkway and Albert Street, for a collision report.

When police arrived, they found citizens attending to a female lying on the ground. She appeared to be driving a white Ford car at the scene.

A black Ford truck was in the ditch, and the male driver was pronounced deceased by EMS.

The 18-year-old female car driver was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Collision reconstructionists determined the driver of the white Ford car was travelling southbound on Ring Road. The vehicle entered the center ditch and continued into the northbound lane into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then collided with the Ford truck, which was travelling northbound.

As a result of several months of investigation led by members of the RPS Investigative Services Division, the 19-year-old has been charged with the Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death.

She first appeared on these charges in Provincial Court on October 12.
