Rams fall to Bisons 41-34- Eliminated from postseason contention

There will be no U Sports playoff football this year in the Queen City. The University of Regina Rams came into Saturday’s game needing a win over Manitoba to keep alive in the playoff race but came up on the short end of a 41-34 final score.

1,343 fans attended Canada’s premier football stadium, in Regina’s first game back after the Thanksgiving BYE week.

Despite the loss, those fans were treated to some University of Regina Rams history at Mosaic Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kenton Appel returned a missed field goal for a touchdown from 115 yards out, becoming the first U of R Rams player in program history to return a missed field goal for a major.

Rams quarterback Owen Sieben had 234 passing yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Former Miller Marauder, Marshall Erichsen, carried the ball 19 times for a game leading 111 yards along the ground for Regina.

The postseason no longer in the equation for Regina, but the Green and Gold will now try and knock off a UBC team who also suffered a loss on Saturday to the before-winless, Calgary Dinos.

The Rams (1-5) will meet the Thunderbirds (4-2) in Vancouver on October 21st.

The game will be broadcasted on RM2 on 620ckrm.com starting with the pre-game show at 1:45PM.
